Programs & Materials Highlights
Our forward-thinking and groundbreaking research projects often result in insightful and inspiring learning materials, many for free.
Biocomplexity
What it is: Biocomplexity is an integrated, inquiry-based curriculum that consists of a series of cases relating to biocomplexity and climate change—designed around cases in urban, suburban/agricultural, tropical and polar systems, in which high school students address land use and resource use challenges increasingly confronted by society.
Takeaway: Teaching is often too focused on early skills like counting, instead of building a bridge to later math learning.
How TERC Can Help: Supporting research confirms that introducing algebra instruction in the early grades impacts future success. The LEAP program is the first early algebra curriculum for K-5 students. Learn more.
Fun STEM Fact!
It is believed that Ancient Egyptians used complex mathematics such as algebra, arithmetic and geometry as far back as 3000 BC.
This Speaker Series focuses on four areas that are critical to developing and sustaining equitable mathematics classrooms in the elementary grades. Speakers include Forum colleagues and nationally known educators and researchers whose work pertains to equity in mathematics education.
Sessions scheduled from November through April with the first two below.
